Well Testing Training
In January of 2005, Well Testing was officially recognized as a “Designated Occupation” by the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada. (Visit their web site at: www.petrohrsc.ca/pcp/index.htm for more details). This means that experienced well testers can now be assessed through a Competency Program and receive a government certificate much the same as journeymen in other trades such as welders and pipe fitters.
Central has actively participated in the development of a Well Testing Training Program in conjunction with The Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). This program consists of six levels; three are available as of January 2005 and the remaining will be available soon. Visit the PSAC website at: www.psac.ca/welltest/ for more details or to enroll in the program.
Central has combined the Competency Program, the Well Testing Training Program, and its own On-the-Job-Training (OJT) to form the Employee Certification Program (ECP). New, inexperienced employees are automatically enrolled in the program after their probationary period and can begin the course while working in the field under experienced supervisors. Further information can be supplied by District Managers at Central or by contacting Central’s Head Office in Calgary. |
